Why "Yume Africa"?

“Yume” is a Bafang word, from a Bamiléké language spoken in West Cameroon, meaning “Wake up!”. So Yume Africa means "Wake up Africa".

Listen to our Founder, Madeleine Kamga in her interview with Shakira Releford on her podcast called "NonProfit UNPLUGGED". Madeleine explained what is Yume Africa, why she decided to take action with others to help kids in Cameroon.

We believe that the young generations are the future and if they are educated, empowered, and inspired, they will shake up and wake up Africa for a bright future. This is why our logo shows a book opening in the shining sun. Education opens doors to countless opportunities.
