Why "Yume Africa"?

“Yume” is a Bafang word, from a Bamiléké language spoken in West Cameroon, meaning “Wake up!”. So Yume Africa means "Wake up Africa".

Listen to our Founder, Madeleine Kamga in her interview with Shakira Releford on her podcast called "NonProfit UNPLUGGED". Madeleine explained what is Yume Africa, why she decided to take action with others to help kids in Cameroon.

We believe that the young generations are the future, and they should wake up to face and overcome the many challenges of our times. Education of children is one of the means to prepare them to become successful leaders. This is why our logo shows a book opens on a shining sun. Education opens doors to countless opportunities.
